The Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Vancouver held a launch ceremony for its 2022 Kcultureinvan Honorary Reporters at the Korean consulate on Sept. 29 (Thurs). A selection of seven honorary reporters was invited to the event to receive their letters of appointment. The general consul Kyun delivered his congratulatory remarks during the launch ceremony to the Kcultureinvan Honorary reporters and relayed his wish for reporters and the young generation especially to help bridge the two cultures and enhance stronger diplomatic ties.
Consul General Jongho Kyun was a former deputy director general for Public Diplomacy and Cultural Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and has been appointed as the consul general of the Korean consulate in Vancouver on Sept. 18 of this year. With Korea and Canada marking their 60th anniversary of formal diplomatic relations in 2023, the consul highlighted the importance of public diplomacy in the Korea-Canada relationship.
Representatives from different organizations across Vancouver were also present at the event to share their experiences with Korean culture and discuss with the reporters about Korean traditions, food, and life. Throughout the next three months from October to December, the Kcultureinvan honorary reporters will actively attend both online and offline events held in Vancouver and worldwide to deliver content promoting Korean culture in Vancouver through card news and videos in English. Noteworthy Korea-related events to take a keen interest in the near future is the KOREAZ Global FESTIVAL in metaverse on Oct. 13. (Thurs).
Jihye Kim, who came to Vancouver from South Korea two months ago, expressed her excitement to be a Kcultureinvan honorary reporter, saying, “I am so glad to be part of this experience to share the Korean culture in Canada.”
