President Moon Jae-in appointed BTS as his special envoy for public diplomacy on Wednesday.

“President Moon has appointed BTS as a special envoy for future generations and culture to lead global agendas and to expand diplomatic power in line with Korea’s elevated status in the international community,” said Blue House spokesperson Park Kyung-mee on Wednesday.

“The messages of consolation, coexistence and harmony of various races are also in line with Korea’s will to overcome the current crisis of the coronavirus pandemic through global solidarity and cooperation.”

The first official activity as presidential envoys will be to attend the upcoming 75th United Nations General Assembly, slated to take place in New York in September. The band members are expected to deliver messages of hope and consolation to youth around the world.
