Blackpink’s Jisoo journeys to find herself in upcoming solo release
Jisoo from girl group Blackpink hopes listeners can see the new Jisoo in her upcoming solo release which was a journey to find herself.
“’What is Jisoo’s charming point as a solo artist?’ This is the question I kept asking myself when I started preparing for my first solo album,” Jisoo said in a press release on Thursday, a day before “Me” drops.
“I wanted to show new aspects while also protecting myself. It is an album of ‘Me’ myself, produced as a result of looking into my inner self and after multiple concerns,” she explained.
Jisoo, who was involved throughout the making of the album, said she pitched in multiple ideas for the track, concept of the album, styling of the music video and more to really make it her own solo album.
“I now get to meet my fans as a solo artist, that in itself is already an achievement,” said Jisoo.
To celebrate the release of Jisoo’s first solo album, a pop-up store in collaboration with Hello Kitty, Jisoo’s favorite character, will be opening from April 1 to April 7.
The pop-up store will offer unreleased photocard lucky draw events for fans who purchase Jisoo’s album at the store, alongside with four special photo frames featuring Jisoo. There also will be drinks picked by Jisoo on sale at the cafe.
The pop-up store will be located at the COEX branch of Ktown4u, a K-pop album retail store in Gangnam District, southern Seoul.
“Me,” which is set for release on March 31, has already surpassed 1.24 million pre-orders, a record for any K-pop solo artist.
Girl group Blackpink, is currently on its second world tour, “Blackpink World Tour [Born Pink].” The tour kicked off in KSPO Dome on Oct. 15 and 16 last year. The group went on to visit 14 cities and hold 24 performances in European and North American destinations.
