K-pop groups including Blackpink, BTS nominated for MTV Europe Music Awards
Multiple K-pop groups have been nominated for the 2022 MTV Europe Music Awards, including Blackpink, BTS and Seventeen.
On the nomination list announced on Wednesday, Blackpink was named in four categories while BTS and Seventeen were both named in three categories each.
Blackpink’s title track from its second album “Pink Venom,” was nominated in the Best Video category, marking the first time that a K-pop group was nominated in the category. The four-member girl group also garnered nominations in the categories of Best K-pop, Biggest Fans and Best Metaverse Performance.
BTS was also nominated in the Best K-pop, Biggest Fans and Best Metaverse Performance categories. The boy band won four awards at last year’s MTV Europe Music Awards. It has won the Biggest Fans award for four years in a row since 2018.
This year’s awards mark the first time that Seventeen was nominated. The boy band was named in three categories — Best K-pop, Best New Act and Best Push Artist.
K-pop groups Tomorrow X Together, Twice and ITZY were also nominated for awards.
The 2022 MTV Europe Music Awards will be held at the Bank Dome in Düsseldorf, Germany, on Nov. 13.
