National football team coach Paulo Bento will leave Korea Tuesday.
The Korea Football Association announced Monday through a statement that Bento is scheduled to depart from Incheon International Airport on Tuesday at 11:50 p.m.
Bento played for the Portuguese national team in his professional player days and took on the coaching position at Sporting Clube de Portugal after retiring. He won a Super League Greece title with Olympiacos and coached the national teams of Portugal and Korea.
Bento came to Korea in 2018, succeeding coach Shin Tae-yong, who resigned after the 2018 World Cup in Russia. Bento managed to lead the Korean national team to the round of 16 at the World Cup in Qatar this year but announced his resignation after Korea crashed out of the tournament after a 4-1 loss to Brazil.
