Olympic gold medalist Kim Yuna and singer Ko Woo-rim wed Saturday
Olympic gold medalist figure skater Kim Yuna, 32, and singer Ko Woo-rim, 27, tied the knot on Saturday.
The ceremony took place at Shilla Seoul in Jung District, central Seoul.
The event was private but snippets of the ceremony were revealed through social media postings of some of the guests.
According to the clips and photos of the ceremony posted online, Kim and Ko entered the wedding hall together and walked down the aisle arm in arm.
Kim wore a strapless dress from Lebanese designer Elie Saab’s 2023 spring collection with a veil.
For wedding favors, the two gave out skincare sets, including lotion and various creams from French luxury fashion house Christian Dior. Kim is currently a beauty ambassador of Dior Beauty.
Comedian Shin Dong-yup hosted the wedding.
Athletes who attended the wedding include: retired speed skater Lee Sang-hwa, retired figure skater Kim Hae-jin, skeleton racer Yun Sung-bin, former ping pong player and now a member of the International Olympic Committee Ryu Seung-min.
Celebrities such as actor Ji Sung, musical theater actor Hong Kwang-ho and girl group f(x) member and actor Krystal were also seen at the wedding.
Kim and Ko first met in 2018 during an ice skating show where Ko’s vocal group performed, according to Kim and Ko’s agencies All That Sports and Beat Interactive. The two made the news of their engagement public in July.
Kim, now retired, is a legend in Korean figure skating and a well-respected athlete. She won the gold medal in the ladies’ singles at the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympic Games and the silver medal in the ladies’ singles at the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympic Games, among many other honors in international championships throughout her career. She retired in 2014.
Ko is a singer and member of Forestella. The quartet was formed through season two of JTBC’s competition program “Phantom Singer.” Ko is a graduate of Seoul National University’s College of Music.
