One killed, three injured at plant fire in South Chungcheong

One person was killed and three were seriously injured in a fire at a ferroalloy plant in Dangjin, South Chungcheong, on Wednesday night, authorities said Thursday.
 
The fire initially broke out from an electronic furnace on the second floor of the plant, according to the local fire department. An employee in his 50s was killed, and three others were injured before the fire was put out about two hours later.
 
Authorities said that the fire incurred property damages of about 380 million won ($288,000) on the ferroalloy plant, operated by Simpac Metal.
 
The police and fire department are investigating the exact cause of the fire.
