‘Shut Down’ to be lead track for Blackpink’s ‘Born Pink’
The lead track for Blackpink’s highly anticipated album “Born Pink” is not its latest and highly popular song “Pink Venom,” but a new song called “Shut Down.”
YG Entertainment announced Wednesday that a song called “Shut Down” will be the lead track of the girl group’s upcoming album “Born Pink,” the second full-length album since the group’s debut.
The label did not give out any more details, except releasing a teaser image on the same day featuring the girls inside a room with several closed shutters to show that where they stand has no doubt been “shut down.”
The label has said earlier that the lead track will show the turning point of Blackpink who will start a new chapter. Fans have been guessing what the lead track of the album would be, with many mentioning “Pink Venom,” a track that released on Aug. 19.
“Born Pink” marks the girl group’s return to the music scene after a year and 10 months. Its first full-length album “The Album” was released in October 2020 and became the first-ever million-seller among K-pop girl groups. Presales for the second album exceeded 1.5 million units one week after reservations opened.
“Born Pink” drops at 1 p.m. on Sept. 16.
After the release, the girl group will kick off a world tour to promote the new album, starting with a two-day concert in Seoul’s KSPO Dome on Oct. 15 and 16.
The tour, which is also titled “Born Pink,” will continue to 25 more cities including Dallas, Houston, Atlanta, London, Barcelona, Paris, Berlin, Amsterdam, Bangkok, Abu Dhabi, Jakarta, Manila, Melbourne and Sydney.
