Stray Kid’s EP ‘Maxident’ sells 2.18 million units in first week of release
Stray Kid’s 7th EP “Maxident” sold 2.18 million units in the first week of its release, according to the boy band’s agency JYP Entertainment Friday.
The feat marks a new record for the band and is also the fourth-highest first-week sales among all K-pop groups. BTS dominates the top three ranks.
“This is a huge feat for the band this year,” JYP Entertainment said. “Sales increased by more than 1.33 million units compared to its prior EP ‘Oddinary,’ which sold 850,000 units.”
“Case 143,” the lead track of the latest EP, topped Billboard’s Hot Trending Songs Powered by Twitter. With such high sales, the EP is expected to rank high on the Billboard 200 chart next week.
The band previously topped the Billboard 200 with its last EP “Oddinary.”
The band is scheduled to begin a world tour with stops in cities such as Jakarta, Bangkok, Singapore, Melbourne, Sydney, Atlanta and Fort Worth.
