In a historic occurrence, six Asian teams will be participating in the World Cup in Qatar. 
 
Six Asian nations will be competing at the World Cup for the first time. Qatar as hosts, Australia, Iran and Saudi Arabia all qualfied for a sixth time. Japan qualified for a seventh time and Korea who are making an 11th appearance, round off a record-breaking year for Asia.
