Foreign Minister Park Jin to meet Secretary of State Antony Blinken Friday
Foreign Minister Park Jin will be meeting with Secretary of State Antony Blinken in Washington D.C. on Friday, as part of his four-day trip to the United States.
“This meeting is the first for the two ministers to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Republic of Korea-U.S. alliance this year, and will focus on strengthening our global comprehensive strategic alliance, and on coordinating policies toward North Korea,” said Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lim Soo-suk in a press briefing on Tuesday.
Park will be in New York and Washington D.C. from Wednesday to Saturday.
He was scheduled to meet with representatives of the United Nations Security Council in New York, and the secretary general, to discuss recent North Korean military provocations, before flying to Washington for a meeting with Blinken.
President Yoon Suk Yeol and U.S. President Joe Biden are expected to hold a summit meeting this year in light of the 70th anniversary of the two countries’ alliance forged in the 1950-53 Korean War.
