Korea Fashion Model Arts Association officially launches
The Korea Fashion Model Arts Association (Kofmaa) officially launched during a ceremony at the Textile Center in Gangnam District, southern Seoul on Tuesday.
Kofmaa was established with the vision to promote and support Korean cultural figures, especially models, dancers and musicians, in their activities overseas. The association was founded after acquiring establishment approval from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
Kofmaa announced that it will conduct fashion model management, host fashion shows and fashion-related conferences and expand marketing overseas.
“In order to develop the Korean fashion industry, we need to encompass the fashion lifestyle sector with the cultural arts sector,” Chung So-mi, president of Kofmaa, said during the ceremony. “By combining the fashion industry we will be able to keep improving its value.”
The launch ceremony was attended by some 150 people from fashion professors, officials from the culture ministry, designers, models and actors. Actor Kim Mi-sook was among many figures who gave a congratulatory speech on the association’s launch.
Kofmaa said that while it has around 150 members, its goal is to increase the number to 300 by next year.
